ABOUT JEWEL BUG

Welcome! My name is Leila Christensen, owner of Jewel Bug. Aside from the occasional help from my family and sweet husband, I am a one woman show. As a native Utahn I try to take full advantage of all that the Utah outdoors has to offer. When I'm not busy in my design studio, you can find me dangling from the end of a rope in one of Utah's beautiful slot canyons.

I've always had an entrepreneurial spirit. As a kid I my little sister and I would collect random things from around the house and make rubber band bracelets to sell. I would put everything (including my little sister) in our wagon and pull it through the neighborhood selling our stuff to the other kids.

Growing up in an artistic family, creativity was strongly encouraged. I've always loved art and creating, but didn't find my passion for jewelry until 2020 when COVID 19 hit. In the early days of the pandemic nobody knew much about the virus and I was suspected to have it, despite my negative test. I stayed isolated in my room for weeks waiting to have a "normal" temperature. Fatigued by boredom, my amazing neighbors rallied around me dropping off care packages. One of these care packages included supplies for making earrings. I quickly discovered my passion for jewelry making, and the beginning of Jewel Bug was born. Since that time, Jewel Bug has participated in multiple markets and vendor events, as well as being featured on Good Things Utah and Fox 13.
